The Answer to Stress - Reclaiming Your Vibration

Gene Keys is a beautiful guide in self-discovery and self-evolution.

Reclaiming Your Vibration

Did you experience any sort of stress this past week? Chances are your answer is Yes.
Like many of us, maybe you even experienced stress every day.

Stress shows up as Pressure.
Pressure on the body, on our energy, in our thoughts and mind.

I believe that some forms of stress can be seen as helpful as we are breaking through fears, are healing in some way or are breaking new grounds with something we have never tried before.

However, it has been proven that consistent and compacted stress can wreak havoc on our nervous system, our energy levels and our overall well-being.

But, what is the Core issue with stress?

Our reaction to the pressure we are feeling is
Short, Strained Breaths
that perpetuate and escalate the stress into
Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Exhaustion, and for some, Depression.

These short breaths take place in our chest, stifling the full oxygenation of our lungs, blood, brain and body.

Over time, this can lead to issues such as high blood pressure, digestive problems, hormone imbalances, sleep disturbances, low energy levels, infertility, acid reflux, a weakened immune system, tension, pain, headaches, and more.

Most importantly, this type of breathing disrupts and distorts our heartbeat and natural rhythm (homeostasis), lowering our vibration and causing us to fall out of sync with the Earth and our inherent harmony with life.

It’s clear that unless we retreat to the forest (a tempting option for many of us these days), we cannot escape or fully diminish the external stressors and overwhelming responsibilities that come with living in society.

So, what’s the answer?!

The truth is, while we may feel stuck or overwhelmed in certain parts of our lives, we are never really truly stuck, we just aren’t creating enough space to breathe.

The answer is in the Breath.

The solution lies in our ability to choose to positively restrain ourselves from the body's (and possibly the mind's) addiction to stress hormones (like adrenaline) and the vices we've used to numb or override stress—such as food, lack of food, overindulgence, alcohol, drugs, pain medication, etc.—and instead, make room to give ourselves what our body truly needs

Space to Fully Breathe.

It is within this flow of breath, this Self-Regulation, that the stress begins to melt away, the tension begins to unwind and the body, and the heart and mind come back into harmony.

Our body's and heart's natural rhythm emerges, our nervous system and energy levels regenerate, our emotional body is liberated, and we reconnect to the vibration of peace, tranquility, and natural flow.

It is within the breath that the need to force things subsides. The pressure to be something or somewhere other than you are dissolves.
It is within the breath that You remember what it is to simply Be You.

How to Breathe Fully:
Diaphragmatic Breathing

1)
Slow deep breaths in through the nose (you receive more oxygen via the nose compared to the mouth)

2) Focus on bringing your breath as deep into the body as you can - aiming for the lower belly/tailbone area. If you’re used to breathing via the chest, you may experience tension/resistance as you attempt to draw the breath lower/deeper, and that’s okay. Simply bring the breath as low and deep as you can. It will deepen with practice.

3) Feel the breath expanding your center, filling you up like a cup, from the base all the way up the spine, into the diaphragm, into the chest, through the throat, and maybe you can even feel the energy of your breath reach the crown of your head. (belly rises, diaphragm expands into the sides of your body, chest expands)

4) FULL, slow exhale out the mouth. This step is important. We must fully exhale to release carbon dioxide and make space for a fresh, full new breath of oxygen. (Feel the belly deflated and pulling in toward the spine)
*You may find it helpful to place your hands on your belly or watch your body in the mirror to tell if your belly is expanding or not.

It’s Important to Note

Many of you may feel some resistance or tension as you draw your breath in toward the lower belly. This is due to long periods of short breathing and a stiffening of the fascia tissues and muscles. With practice, the tissues and muscles will begin to soften and open for easier breathing!

When I was first learning this it just wasn’t something that was on my radar, so I would forget to breathe fully. So, I chose to
a) set my alarm every hour during the day with the label “Breathe”
b) and set up post-its everywhere (doorways, mirrors, car)
so that I would remember to check in with my breathing and guide in some deeper, slower, more relaxing breaths.

Over time, checking in with my breath became much easier and more of a natural part of my day.
Be patient with yourself if you forget, however, set yourself up for success by offering yourself the reminders!

Also, please note, due to the complexity and the many responsibilities, activities and rhythms of each of our lives, chances are, unless we are a monk sitting on the top of a mountain, we will most likely have many times throughout the day that our breaths may shorten. This is okay, yet, this is why it is a great practice to check in with your breath every so often!

I hope you found this helpful. Please know, you deserve a full breath of new life each and every moment, and you deserve to full release the old with each exhale.

I love you.
